This policy covers the Livingstone Android app only. For our browser extension, website, and subscription system, see the full privacy policy.
Stored on your device only. The Android app saves your recent search queries in private app storage on your Android phone or tablet. This data is never sent to Livingstone servers or any third party. You control it completely—clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app permanently deletes this history.
If you subscribe to Livingstone Pro through Google Play, the app checks your subscription status with Google Play only, not Livingstone's servers. Google manages your Google Account, payment method, and subscription state. Livingstone never receives or stores this information. [CONFIRM: Android subscriptions use Google Play Billing and no license key or account is sent to Livingstone servers]
When you search, the app displays Google results in an embedded web view. Your device communicates directly with Google exactly as it would in a mobile browser. Google receives your search query and device information per their privacy policy. Livingstone is a view layer only—we do not log, inspect, or store your searches after they leave your device.
The app translates search results using [CONFIRM: translation engine, e.g. Google ML Kit on-device translation]. Translation happens on your device—no translation requests are sent to Livingstone. [CONFIRM: whether language models are downloaded over the network on first use, and by whom] Livingstone has no access to your translation data.
If you have chosen to share usage and diagnostics data with Google on your Android device, Android may send crash and performance data to Google. Google may make aggregated crash reports available to us through Google Play Console. Livingstone does not receive this data directly from your device. [CONFIRM: no third-party crash reporting SDK is bundled]
The app does not request, store, or transmit:
Search history stored locally on your device persists until you delete it. Livingstone stores nothing about your app usage on its servers. If you uninstall the app, all local data is deleted unless your device backs it up through Android Backup (a separate Google service governed by Google's privacy policy). [CONFIRM: app data backup setting]
When you download or update the app through Google Play, Google collects app-related analytics (installs, crash rates, usage metrics, etc.). Livingstone only has access to the aggregated statistics Google provides to developers. See Google's Privacy Policy and Google Play's data practices for information about Google's data collection.
Because Livingstone does not collect personal data through the Android app, there is no personal data to access, correct, export, or delete from our servers. All your data (search history) is stored locally on your device and under your full control.
